I bet it would. They are the same 'shell' The hawkeye would fit the front of a blobeye impreza. Get yourself a rear smashed Sti that way you have all panels. - or find someone that would let you compare panels.

I'm thinking about getting one of those platforms for bicycles to sit on. I'm wondering if a legacy one would fit.

On a levorg fb page someone shared this video on installing an idoing stereo. I wonder if it really is as simple as the presenter mentions to keep all functions? If it is a matter of just installing the second box (below the radio, and plugging it in) then I could get any stereo without worrying.
