Headlight washers - plastic face plates detached

Hej all. Removing the front bumper a few months ago to install a structural bar for rally lamps, I neglected to remove the body-coloured pieces of trim that are basically cover plates for the two headlight washers. When the washers are operated, the stem protrudes forward out of the bumper...

Autocar: Subaru staying in Europe despite 2020 "disaster"

Agreed. I read somewhere that some critical aspect of the Levorg was designed from ground up for the American market, and yet the car was never sold there. Perhaps Subaru USA are afraid a smaller wagon would cannibalise the strong sales of the more profitable Forester and Outback? If 90% + of...

Autocar: Subaru staying in Europe despite 2020 "disaster"

If there’s one thing the boss seems to get right, it’s that Subaru’s image in the UK is still defined by the rally driving, STi and WRX. People still associate Subaru with those high performance cars and the (ahem) people who drive them. Here in northern Sweden, it’s completely different...

Autocar: Subaru staying in Europe despite 2020 "disaster"

There's a strange article in Autocar (UK motoring magazine) - stange because the by-line of the interview with International Motors boss John Hurtig seems to suggest IM are responsible for importing Subaru to all of continental Europe (it's just the UK, Ireland and Nordics). I think the bigger...

    South East London

Welcome! Lots of Australian members have found solutions engineered and manufactured over there, but I look forward to hearing what you find in London. I'm in northern Europe but will return to Brexitland some time in the next few years. I suspect there is more expertise there for fixing the...

    UK levorg updates

Crikey. Didn't know it was that bad. It was 1,658 units in Sweden 2020/1-2020/12 (including just 1 Levorg), for a country with a population 1/6th of the UK.

    UK levorg updates

It's the same here in Sweden: right now, all we get are the XV, Forester, and Outback. The MY2022 Levorg will return, because after Volvo Subaru's biggest competition here is the Volkswagen Group. The Forester competes with the Golf Alltrack / Octavia Scout, while the Forester and Outback...

    Anyone towing with their Levorg

I have a 2019MY non-turbo 2.0. The towbar is by Witter and fitted by a third-party auto-shop. In Sweden (even in small cities) it's really hard to rent a panel van. Most retailers (Ikea, MediaMarkt, K-Rauta, Mio, hardware stores, furniture stores, etc) will usually let you rent a free box or...

    Nordic members: winter driving lights

Some further updates. Firstly I didn't think my car had headlight washers, so when I neglected to remove the headlight washer caps before I removed the bumper. They fall off in the process, but when I came to put them back I assumed I had broken them, so taped them back on while waiting for a...

    Nordic members: winter driving lights

Spent the weekend in the shop assembling the hardware for the lamps. It took about a month, and a hefty customs duty invoice, but here is the bar as ordered from SSD Performance. The product is designed for US-spec cars, so comes with a license plate mount dimensioned for a US plate. Removing...

    Nordic members: winter driving lights

A further question, ahead of this weekend's (planned) installation: does the Levorg have positive-current or negative-current beams? Thanks

    Nordic members: winter driving lights

Just to update the thread, the SSD Performance bar is on order and making it’s way from Missouri to Sweden. Next I need to choose some lamps. Norrlanders like to fit three big lamps on their cars: two wide beams and one longer “pencil” beam. However the SSD bar has four evenly spaced mounts, so...

    Nordic members: winter driving lights

Still considering my options here, and made aware of the rally light nudge bars made by SSD in Lincoln, Missouri. They retail for USD199, but shipping and import taxes to Sweden will make it quite expensive. However, they have a really neat and strong bar that mounts to the crash bar. Only...

Changing summer/winter wheels - does TPMS make this difficult?

Thanks everyone, especially Toxy for the photograph, which confirms what I have found out. I made a trip into the city yesterday afternoon and chatted to a couple of tyre fitters and a mechanic at the Subaru dealer where I bought the car. Because it was an ex-demo-car he was pretty confident he...

Changing summer/winter wheels - does TPMS make this difficult?

Ok, more complicated than I thought. The car was a demonstrator at the dealer from August 2019 until I bought it in January 2020. It came with two sets of Subaru wheels, so perhaps there are two sets of valves and TPMS monitors in them?
