1/4 mile times ?? Out of interest

The fastest listed on Dragy do around mid 14's, so there's your benchmark

    Sump leak/transmission

Sometimes the filler bolts can leak through worn/old o-ring seals so you might want to check that, thought mine had a more serious leak only to find out it was that.

    Mishimoto CVT Cooler

From my experience, my key recommendation would be to just run the Mishimoto engine oil cooler, for this reason: 1. The CVT is already cooled by engine coolant directly (you can see the silver round unit on the right side of the transmission), so naturally, if you are able to get your engine...

1.6l Levorg Running FA20 Turbocharger - Mad Science Experiment

Not just safe, a lot *safer* even from the tuner's opinion. If you drive your car hard often, there is less back pressure, less heat buildup in the exhaust manifold/downpipe, better performance per PSI. (0.7 on the bigger turbo is equivalent to 0.9-1PSI on the stock turbo estimated) Stock turbo...

1.6l Levorg Running FA20 Turbocharger - Mad Science Experiment

Don't mind the shoddy exhaust wrap our roads are not favourable Full 3" with mid resonator and stock axle-back boxes. Sounds stock but the car has a noticeable deep note. Might swap the backboxes to Fujitsubo if I can get my hands on them.

1.6l Levorg Running FA20 Turbocharger - Mad Science Experiment

A short round of boosting would take my oil temps easily over 115°C. With the oil cooler I never see over 100°C even after hard driving. The decat was a custom 3" weld job done locally in Kenya, however if you're looking for a bolt-on high flow downpipe any WRX unit should fit easily...

1.6l Levorg Running FA20 Turbocharger - Mad Science Experiment

More boost pressure at higher RPM = more high-RPM torque hence more HP. Stock turbo efficiency band is 2k-4k RPM, the bigger turbo from the 2.0l is about 2700-5800rpm. Just make sure you also get decat/high flow cat to reduce back pressure and improve response even further. Oh and engine oil...

1.6l Levorg Running FA20 Turbocharger - Mad Science Experiment

@Raid_Renegade I believe this calls for a friendly race...for science @lucavoltaI hold 1.1-1.2 bar from 3k rpm to redline, but spool starts from 2,500rpm. The improved flow means the engine can run higher boost levels more safely than with the smaller stock turbo.

Levorg and WRX from the Netherlands / 19 inch 245/40R19

Very nice result! At what altitude? Because my stock turbo struggled to maintain anything over 0.8 bar at 1650m ASL. Swapped to the bigger turbo from the forester XT/WRX FA20 and mine is making over 220hp and 320Nm, if you're up for the challenge you should try it. Car becomes much more alive...

1.6l Levorg Running FA20 Turbocharger - Mad Science Experiment

You'll be surprised that the turbo is able to boost at less than 3k RPM, I thought the same thing about lag before swapping, but after the swap I can say it was the right move. Of course the bigger turbo takes slightly longer to spool, but once it does the engine comes alive in a way not...

1.6l Levorg Running FA20 Turbocharger - Mad Science Experiment

The good thing about the big turbo from my brief experience is the engine does not have to work as hard to give you a certain power output. I coast at 3-4k RPM and stock Levorgs can't keep up with me. The better exhaust flow improves heat management and makes both the engine and turbo more...

1.6l Levorg Running FA20 Turbocharger - Mad Science Experiment

Mine is the Mishimoto non-thermostatic engine oil cooler. Works very well for my use case, oil temps never go above 100 C except in very hard/hot and prolonged driving scenarios. Previously oil never run cooler than 100 C even when driving lightly.

1.6l Levorg Running FA20 Turbocharger - Mad Science Experiment

I don't have the dyno figures yet from the tuner but should easily be over 200hp and 300Nm

1.6l Levorg Running FA20 Turbocharger - Mad Science Experiment

Very interesting transmission swap! Will share this with my mechanic to explore the options. But ideally it would need almost a full donor car? I would imagine the WRX FA20 6 speed would be easier to swap in? Regarding reliability of the engine, the tuner has set the boost and timing relatively...

1.6l Levorg Running FA20 Turbocharger - Mad Science Experiment

So been running the car for about a day now, all I can say is it is a night and day difference between the MGT2259S and the stock 1.6l turbo. Was previously boosting at 0.7-0.8 bar above 4500rpm, right now the car holds 1.2-1.3 bar all the way to redline (at 1650m ASL). This is precisely how the...

Confirmed? Subaru Levorg VM4 CAN actually handle 300Nm?

So a quick update on this, going for more power :) swapped in the turbo from an FA20 onto my 1.6. Protune pending, will update you all and see what numbers we can wring out. Made a separate thread on the same here, however will share updates on both...

1.6l Levorg Running FA20 Turbocharger - Mad Science Experiment

Hi Guys! So, over the weekend I was crazy enough to install a used FA20 turbo (MGT2259S) onto my 1.6l Levorg (comes stock with the MGT1549S). This was primarily necessitated by the bottleneck of exhaust flow on the stock turbo especially at altitude (5500ft/1650m ASL), where the stock turbo...

Confirmed? Subaru Levorg VM4 CAN actually handle 300Nm?

Car is holding up well so far, I'm running around the 300Nm peak torque mark around 2500-3500rpm, however top end torque is still an issue due to the small turbo exhaust housing (turbo struggles to maintain 1bar above 4500rpm). Looking to either upgrade the internals on the stock turbo or run a...

Confirmed? Subaru Levorg VM4 CAN actually handle 300Nm?

So, I just did a decat and full 3" exhaust, waiting for a tune, will let you guys know what estimates I get up to. But good chance it will be over 300Nm @ ~1.2bar

    FB16 DIT - Boost Pressure - UK

I'd be curious to see if anyone has tested performance on a tuned 1.6 Levorg, I know for sure it can certainly do with improved response and boost management.
