I removed mine without taking the grill off. I used a heat gun and some plastic pry tools. didn't come off nicely, couldn't reuse. I was replacing with a new one though so didn't mind if got a bit bent. Was a pain but got there Heres the back of the stock grill, no screws just locator tabs.

Hi I havnt actually done anything with the CVT fluid yet its on the to do list as I'm getting close to 100k kms. I honestly might take to Subaru to another dealer as I've never done before. There are others on here that have done no issues but not NZ based sorry doesn't help much

Sorry mate must have missed this I dont know honestly, i had a look through my MFD settings and couldn't find a way to disable certain screens on enable. mine was a 2017 MFD so they might have changed for the 2000 ? Mine was from a WRX as well. hopefully you have found a way sorry cant be more help
