Hi everyone.... Not sure why never joined before. I suppose only reason came across this forum is had the 1st issue since owning the STi in 2018.
O2 Sensor pinged off and it was Christmas Tree time on the Dash. Now magically gone. But got the code off the scanner.

Mine was the 1st STi Levorg in the country (UK) to best of my knowledge. Had full aero pack on. But stock apart from upgraded headunit for ICE. Never bothered to change it and as it was a Japan only Panasonic unit you couldn't get Maps other than than for Japan. When I imported it, it has less than 1K miles on it. I was a brand new car really. Just done 54K miles now as it's our daily. Only just replaced rear pads. Front ones I did anyhow whilst I was there.

Reckon the O2 CEL could have been as put in Esso Super and the higher levels of detergent might has dislodged some shit in the engine somewhere. As normally chuck in Tesco 99. Which although is 99 I know isn't great of cleaning.

Anyway, chuck us a message if anyone else in the UK has one. Be interesting to see how many there are now, how many miles and if anyone had any issues.

Cheers,
Bims

Hi Bims, did you get yours via torque gt?
They imported mine for me 4yrs ago, and I only use momentum. That is until I get enough points on my works car shell card, and then some free power goes in.

I have my build thread here

Hi,
Yes, it was via Darren. It was an interesting experience. But some bits best in PM.
I'm wondering if these o2 sensors only have a certain life span/mileage on them as seem to be quite a common issue in the USA on various incarnations of the FA20 engine. Just a coincidence very soon after filling up on the Esso this then happened but now gone. Weird as the only fault was the sensor but Eyesight out disabled (yellow), RAB disabled and lane change disabled.
I have it from someone who works in the oil industry that Momentum is low on detergents compared to Shell/Esso. Hence the price difference.
My wife previously had a Cooper S. Also a DIT engine. BMW were offering decoking services for these engines due to the carbon build it. We only ran that on V power and a scopes showed it was clean as a whistle after 45K miles. So I think it does work. Shit car though. For ever going wrong with something or another. Funny enough the Levorg is hers as needed something bigger than a 370Z for transporting 2 dogs around.
And they aren't going in my Hawkeye! lol
Will take a look at your thread. Wish there was something like that back in 2018 when I was looking to import mine.
Been thinking about importing a GR Corolla actually. But figures Darren came back with are not workable. Thanks....

If Esso is better than momentum, I'll get that as it's the same price where I am.
Vpower however, is about 10p more.

I read an interesting thread on scoobynet.com about o2 / lamba sensors clog up with carbon build up and all they need was a blow lamp to make it red hot to burn the carbon away, and get it working again.like you, I had a jdm hawkeye, and didnt want to chance the EJ20 engine with a sensor that could be faulty, so I foot the bill and got a genuine subaru 1 for £300!

I also think the o2 sensor clogs up more on the FA20 from being a bit engine. Look how frequently you're meant to do an inlet clean. I did mine at 55k and the throttle body was so clogged up.

You can see my build thread here if you want. https://www.levorgclub.com/threads/robsyuk-2018-levorg-sti.1185/

Im not bothered about mpg, but my levorg gets a max 22mpg, how's yours?

Esso claim same stuff as Shell: https://www.esso.co.uk/en-gb/petrol
From my friend in the industry he said all fuels start out as some acronym I can't recall. But we know it as basic 95unleaded.
They then add ethanol, octane boosters and detergents. Often in the actual delivery vehicle. The detergents are really expensive more so than the actual unleaded itself. Which is how Supermarkets sell it so cheap as they often have no to little detergents in.

Interesting they claim they can be cleaned up with a blow lamp. I mean what's the exhaust temp of the gases and that of a blow lamp? Got to be similar I would think?

£300 for an OEM one? Wow? I looked at the part number for the Levorg and it was half that.

The DIT engines defo have carbon issues. I know that from experience with the mini.

>> I did mine at 55k and the throttle body was so clogged up.
Was this on the Levorg or the Impreza?
As I've not thought to check the throttle bodies. why would they get clogged up? Never had that issue on any other car. As it's only taking in air isn't it?

MPG. Depends on how drive it obviously. But I'm usually getting around 25 - 30mpg. As it's in L/km I can't be arsed to convert it. But something in that order. On a long motorway type run say at 70mph it might sneek up to over 30mpg. But not by much.

I'll take a look at your thread as not seen anyone do that on the STi.
