Door locks

Hi Just got delivery of my Levorg and first impressions are really good. So much better to drive than my mk4 legacy. I'm struggling to work out how the passenger doors unlock when I unlock the drivers door. Can the double locking system be changed by me or it a garage job? Am I missing something as it seems that once the drivers door has opened, the only way to open the other doors is from the inside.

You mean for keyless entry, yeah? If you hit the actual unlock button on the key fob it should unlock everything. Otherwise, I just use the unlock button inside the drivers door.

Hi
Thanks for the reply. Mine seems set up to only open the drivers door. If I'm stood at the passenger door with the key and open that door first then all doors will open but if I'm at the drivers door then only that one opens.

That's how mine works too, hubbie has the other key so not too much of a problem
There has been a suggestion (from the FB page - so I don't know myself) that the dealer can reprogram your key to unlock all the doors at once (from the first click), maybe worth asking at your service

It's set up like that as standard. Also heard that it can reprogramed to open all doors at once, but personally I prefer it the way it is. Don't want some random prick trying to jump in ur car/take something while ur on the other side of the car.

It cannot be re programmed. I heard that rumour too. Asked my dealer if they could reprogram and it was an outright No. Its part of the safety features of the car. It is designed to prevent car jacking - not much of that going on in Australia, but that's what it is for! Very annoying, but slowly getting used to it.

Well other members have had theirs reprogrammed (refer FB Levorg owners page) at their 6month service by Subaru so suggest not quite right (I'm pretty sure they're not making that up, this was stated only on the 13th Jan 17 by another Spec B owner)
Also heard dealers saying there is no map update - Subaru Australia said there was...months ago
Like the European / JDM accessories compared to Australian, there is always a difference.

Thanks for this. We thought it odd that the handbook said you could but the dealer said no. Interestingly our service schedule in Australia does not have a 6 month service. We are 12 monthly servicing schedule.
We will try again....

This feature annoys myself and my wife. One of us get in, and then realize that the other is locked out. I looked it up in the car manual and it specifically says to have your dealer/Subaru service change it if you want the drivers side to act like the passenger side.

I will do this at my first service in a couple of weeks and I'll report back on the outcome.

I'd need to check, but I believe my EU spec Levorg doesn't need any specifics to unlock passenger doors (front & rear) once I unlock the driver door (putting the hand through the handle). Didn't check with keyfob though.

However (you may be referring to this) ; passenger cannot unlock his door if I'm standing by driver door, but haven't unlocked it. And I don't mind this. Driver should always be the first one to open his door. shotgun driver courtliness I'd say :D

The way it is set up, press unlock once, driver door opens. Press twice, all doors open.

According to manual this can be configured by the dealer on your next service.

Keyless entry unlocks either the driver or passenger door depending on which side you grab the handle on.

Update on this,

I got my dealer to change the setting in the car. Now when i grab the drivers side door handle in unlocks the whole car instead of just the drivers door.

Hi All,

Had my GT Levorg serviced last week at Jarvis Subaru in Adelaide, Australia.

Just wanted to confirm for others that I was able to get my locking changed to open all doors from the drivers handle instead of just the drivers door.

The key fob apparently cant be changed and still works as one press drivers door, second all doors open.

Had mine reprogrammed in Brisbane the other week, dealer didn't even question it, just did it during the service. It even mentions it as a programming option in the owners manual. I know others have had trouble but some dealers are just lazy I think
P.S. If you want it done in Brisbane area without drama, City Subaru did mine

Hey mate, I had the same thing done by a local Sydney dealer (Kirrawee for those in Sydney) without any question.
