Help identify this area..

Hi all, new owner / member here, this may be a very silly question but bear with me...

Ive recently noticed a very small oil leak on my 1.6 DIT and trying to identify where its coming from, looking in my engine bay the area circled in red behind the air filter on the attached is very dirty / covered in oil / substance unknown . (stock picture not my actual car)

Can someone identify what this part is / whether its likely to be the leak or been contaminated by another part?

That's the ABS block. They come coated from factory with wax to prevent rusting, and it's likely what you see is only molten & dried up wax that picked up all the schmutz flying around in the engine bay.

If this doesn't look like wax, then it's possibly a brake fluid leak

Ahh brilliant, now you say that it’s clearly wax coating covered in dirt / dust as it is dry and sticky rather than wet. Was thinking it was more like a fine spray from elsewhere.

Will have to get underneath to spot the possible leak…
