Yes, I tested it out soon after buying my Levorg and didn't see any problem. I did this because in my previous car, a Legacy, I had to use it one for real when something had triggered the alarm and when we returned the battery was too flat to operate the door lock, so I had to use the mechanical key for real. And then find someone to give me a jump start.

Yes, my car locked itself due to driver error - the key worked in a moment of panic

My Levorg has another way of opening the doors by using the button under the rear door that is normally used to lock the car. You can program it with a 5-digit number (but no zeros allowed) that can be used to unlock the doors. It's a bit tricky and even tedious to use. If your secret number includes the digit 9 then you have to press the button 9 times, which takes care. But I set it up "just in case" and it does seem to work. Of course if your regular unlock attempt using the key doesn't work because of a flat battery this probably won't help, but if you manage to lock yourself out somehow, then it might. There are full instructions in the manual.
