I knew that Air Con worsened fuel consumption but I didn't know by how much.
So I did a test. At 78 mph (true) over 250 miles on autoroute without Air Con I got 32.7 mpg.
With Air Con I only managed 28.8 mpg - a 12% hit.
Does that sound about right?

Doesn't sound right. I get 40mpg Bristol to Copenhagen with Air Con.

I get around 40 on motorway runs with aircon on, but tend to sit at 70 mph.

I’ve see my mpg go down once on the motorway at 70mph. I see 40mpg as a very good run

If you look through my build thread, youll see i replaced all service items and even cleaned the carbon build up out of the the inlet. Very simple to do and made a small improvement.
Anyone wanting to improve bhp, could do this to see if it helps.

So I made another trip to the Southern Alps this month. Setting the cruise control at 70 mph indicated and over a long stretch on the motorway got
44.4 mpg. So I guess that's my answer. I did try for a while with cc set at 55 mph. The best I could get was 48mpg. But who can drive at that speed on a French Motorway. (These figures are without air con being on.)
