Hello,

Had a run out meeting yesterday up with some UKLegacy members in Mid -Wales - Bit wet but good to get out. Pleased to report the Levorg performed faultlessl.

Anyway playing with the cruise control I seemed unable set it above 70mph. I think this is a self-imposed limit (112mph) within the ECU. On my JDM Legacy etc.. this could be removed by using a speedometer convertor to change from KPH to MPH. Whilst the speedo on the Levorg reads in MPH I wonder if this limit can be a) Mapped out or b) has anyone who has a JDM spec Levorg overcome this?? And c) If you have how did you do it?

Thanks and best regards,

David:)

Hello,

Thanks very much for posting! Looks easy….. If you speak Russian!

Anyhow will translate and see what my local mapper can make of it.

Best regards,

David :)

Hello David,

Welcome aboard. I remember you well from the UK Legacy forum.

I had the same problem with my Gen4 Twinscroll. On previous generations the Km to MPH converter would also delimit the the maximum speed limits. The Gen 4 required a Canbus converter but that did not delimit the speeds. Delimiting the speed limits turned out to be reasonably straightforward.

It was fully written up on the UK Legacy Forum but I don't believe the archive is avaiable.

Anyway, your local mapper should have no problems. It's just a case of changing the "values"in the cruise control settings. If I recall correctly, my maximum value was reset at 250 Kph, effectively delimiting the cruise control.

I hope you get it sorted out and have may years of fun motoring in your Levorg.

My Twinscroll was getting a bit long in the tooth and although working perfectly (and still is, I believe) I decided to get a Levorg. That was towards the end of 2020. I was tempted to go for a 2.0L like yours but at the time there were only a couple in the UK. I decided against importing as I'm a bit too old for that advernture. So I ended up with a Black GT170 (1600cc) - would not have been my first choise of colour - it looks stunning when just cleaned, but shows every bit of dirt. It was first registered in April 2018 and had only covered 9000 miles. I'm very pleased with it although fuel consumption is not brilliant and of course, at 170 bhp compared to the 318 that my Twinscroll was mapped to, it's not really the same drive. It can be a bit bouncy. I don't have a problem with the CVT - not as horrid as it's made out to be.

God luck with the Vorg - I look forward to reading about its progress.

Best wishes.

Brian,

Thanks for that - Very interesting and seemingly a lot simpler that the “Russian” option.

Busy conversing with GerryM and going through the Subaru Levorg genuine accessoriy catalog… Could be expensive!

I’ll update this thread with how it goes and again thanks for replying.

Best regards,

David

Hello,

A bit of an update…

Went to meet with SCM Mapping in Cross Hands, South Wales this morning for an initial diagnosis on the Cruise Control setting. After much “looking around“ on his system there was nothing conclusive so the owner kindly phoned a contact of his call Steve Simpson who operates out of Lincoln to discuss. Basically from the conversation it seems that it is possible but will require a full mapping session using his specialist access software and his “brain” to get to the bottom of this. Also probably will result in removal/raise the top speed limit. I will probably have it mapped to UK fuel as well. I am optimistic that this will resolve the issue as Steve seems to know about it. However we live at opposite sides of the country…. Good news is that he has another potential job in my area so when a mutually convenient date becomes available I will be meeting up.

Watch this space….

Best regards,

David :)

May I ask where you are in the world?

For definite my cruise control as it stands will only allow a setting in use of 114km/h. It will go faster on the throttle but not with the cruise so as far as I know this is a setting on JDM cars.

Thanks for your reply & best regards,

David :)

Hello,

Thanks for the replies! Seems I am one of the unlucky ones! I will press on with the couple of leads I have and see where it takes me.

Maybe it was an option when purchasing although I believe the Japan limits were at 112kph?

Best regards,

David :)

He will need his software but I'd be surprised if you need a full map and therefore his "brain". Unlike a remap all he has to do his change some "vlues" to known numbers i.e. sufficiently larger than the existing ones.

Of course, it could be that the Subaru system has completely changed since I had my Twinscroll delimited. In either case, good luck.

Best wishes.
Brian.

From reading this is the reason the earlier cars are limited to 114kph & around 2017 that increased to 135kph.
"For those who are not in the know, let me remind you that in Japan, the speed of all cars is, in principle, limited to 180 km/h, and the cruise speed for cars before mid-17 is limited to 114km/h and 135 km/h after. This increase is associated with the opening new higher speed limit motorway in the Land of the Rising Sun in 2017.
