New Member and MPG query

Hi All,

A new member from Worcestershire, UK

Just about to buy a 2020 Levorg but confused about the mpg. The dealer is telling me that they can achieve around 35/36 around town and can achieve as much as 49 on the motorway.

All stats I have read say the best you can hope for is 32.

Can anyone wade in with their opinion before I commit please?

for my specific case, in 145000km of driving the car, I have an actual (fuel station liter v/s driven miles) average fuel consumption of 30.8385 U.K. mpg.

If it's a 2020 car, I guess it's a 2 litre non turbo?

Mines a1.6 turbo, and my real world overall average over 3 years is 34 mpg. On a long run, 40 mpg is easy to get. Around town, it's not hard to get 28 mpg. Depends how you drive it. It uses 95 ron E10.

In my 2020 2-litre non-turbo I easily get 40-42mpg on a long journey, A-roads + motorway, and around 30-32 around town - but of course it depends how you drive it...
I don't drive slowly, but I don't do 80mph on the motorway.

I had the 1.6 GT UK spec Levorg, ex Subaru staff car fully serviced by Subaru until traded in. I kept all of the fuel consumption figures for it and my usage was mainly urban with the occasional run out of town every couple of months. Around town on warm days, 23.64 - 33.30 mpg varying on 95-99 octane unleaded, and on a long run as high as 40.10 mpg. However, in winter time it could dip as low as 18.08 mpg!
I kept it for three years and the total average worked out at 27.86 mpg. I would describe my driving style as brisk when not driving in built up urban areas, and I did have the aircon on auto permanently.

I had Subaru's for nearly 20 years, oddly the most economical was my Mk 1 Forrester dash Impreza Sport five door 2.0 manual achieving 28.93 mpg total, and that was modified up to give around 123 bhp, up from 115, yeah, I know, not a lot.
The worst being a Hawkeye 2.0R Sportwagon which I kept standard unlike the others which only made 26.11 mpg total.

Average daily drive for my 2Ltr Turbo over 6 years is 7.4 L/100km ≈ 38.1731 U.K. mpg (less with short stop start trips of course)
On a long trip it can get 6.2 L/100km ≈ 45.5614 U.K. mpg
Total 6 year average is 8.7 L/100km ≈ 32.4691 U.K. mpg (Thats for the entire life of the car so far, which includes a fair amount of trailer towing picking up firewood, camping etc)
Economy takes a MASSIVE nosedive when I have the roof racks and cage on and fully loaded, aerodynamics are shot to shit with that on lol

I have a 2020 2.0 non-turbo UK Levorg. now on 23,000 miles I generally get 35 mpg on a mixture of town and country driving. On the motorway sitting at 70 I get around 40 mpg on a long run. Happy with that for a permanent AWD petrol car. Given diesel is 20p a litre dearer at the moment and issues with DPF filters, glad I moved away from diesel...
