Yep, I had same experience as you had above re SubaruGen2. Dealer also told me updates free, taking car in to see him, and ask him to put it on there for me then!

You can change the annoying auto-lock via dealer re-programme. See other threads Garth.

It can be (dealer) reprogrammed it is the first thing I had done when I got the car. My dealer also didnt know about it but it is mentioned in the (UK) handbook that comes with the car!
