Levorg MY Differences

Hello All,
Looking pretty seriously at buying a Levorg and have a few questions that I can't seem to find answer for the internet.

1. What is the difference between a MY16 GTS-SpecB vs a MY17+ STI Sport. From what I can I tell the MY17+ STI Sport has a new suspension tune and less STI parts on there vs the SpecB. Can someone explain the differences.

2. I read a lot online and on YouTube about a horrible ride especially on the pre MY17 models. I am wondering if this was fixed in the MY17 STI Sport vs buying a MY16 GTS-SpecB and replacing suspension with Tein Coilovers. What are your thoughts? I like the look of the SpecB and also they are a lot cheaper.

3. Thoughts on the FA20, were there issues on the first iteration? Are there any real issues and should I be aware of.

4. Again the CVT transmission, how strong are they and how reliable are they?

Thanks
Shane

Hi Mate,
I have a Spec B and yes the suspension isn't what I was expecting. It's a little to wishes washie for me, but in saying that i'm not going to change to coilovers as my Levorg has landed in the hands of my wife and she isn't concerned with its handling going to and from the shops with the kid.

B Spec differences over the GTS is are a body kit and some STI trims on the inside (start button, gear selector etc) and suspension (i think, but could be wrong). The 17 models STI have revised suspension, body kit, and full STI interior (difference seats, and the interior trim like the Spec B).

FA20 hasn't caused me any issues yet and from what i've experienced and read seems to be a great little motor. I only wish it had the boxer note.

A CVT unmodified works fine around town and is "ok" on a spirited run. Pump more power into it the FA20 (which can take it) and you'll run into problems with the CVT. From memory, the CVT's can put up with up to 200-220KWs but above that, they'll begin to slip (a transmission cooler could help to get a bit more out of it, however, I wouldn't say a whole lot more).

Cool thanks for the reply, some helpful information

I guess what I am trying to understand is in the MY17 (STI Sport) has the suspension issues been dialed out or should I save my money on it and get a GTS-Spec B and put a set of coil overs on them and if so does coil overs sort out the rouge suspension tune?

Basically a Spec-B is 5+ K cheaper on the second hand market than a STI Sport and wondering where to put my money.

I'm picking mine up tomorrow. I watched this review before I took one for a test drive and paid close attention to the ride quality and I didn't experience what the reviewer experienced. Perhaps that may change after a few months of ownership. Subaru do claim this for the MY18 model though: "Changes to the set-up include damping force, rebound length, front arm rubber bush plates and the diameter of the rear stabilisers, making for a flatter ride with minimal pitching and better absorption of bumps."

Interesting question Shane.
Wonder if anyone out there can answer same for JDM STI and Aussie STI (current models both)?
Suspension and handling mainly, though quick summary of dashboard comparison would be helpful too. (centre display and front/rear/side cameras mainly)
