So… long story short looks like my CVT is having issues.
No codes, done two drain and fills which helped by didn’t resolve.
Two shops have said that the next step is to pull it out and strip it to inspect. Minimum cost for this is £4500
Looking at just replacing it looks like the units from Japan have different numbers.
my uk box is TR580R58BA for the same year the japan ones state model no TR580D59BA. Does anyone know if these are interchangeable?
Or any thoughts welcomed.

Sorry to hear, I don't have the answer for you. But what is your transmission doing? Mines been playing up for nearly a year now, but only giving issues when I floor it. Ita fine under normal driving conditions. Also mines the tr690

Mine is the opposite, have been chasing it for a year as well, it’s fine when I floor it it’s normal driving where it gets confused doing the fake shifts and jerks before it engages properly.

The AI voices are telling me not to swap with a TR580D59BA, but rather to try & find TR580R57BA / TR580R55BA or TR580DD8AA

has to do with the fact TR580D59BA expects to be piloted by a turbo-aware ECU, with different torque curve and ability to modulate torque up or down without changing revs much (if at all).

TR580R57BA / TR580R55BA or TR580DD8AA are allegedly all fitted to 2.0L FB engines.

Yeah, I was thinking it could be to do with the fake shifts.

Think I’ll just keep an eye out for a reasonably priced matching number to come up somewhere.
