Hey! So, I recently did a custom transmission cooler on the Levorg 1.6L, and thought I would capture my process on a thread in case it might be helpful.
The key reason behind installing the cooler is that I am running a lot more torque through my TR580 transmission (well over 300Nm) so I sometimes get the AT temp solid light when I push the car hard for long.
First thing to note: the only plug-and-play solution available is the Mishimoto WRX CVT Cooler, which by extension is also compatible with the Levorg (same mounting points and tube paths). So my idea was to use a similar mounting layout for my unit. Mishimoto 19-row cooler stock mounting position shown below:
First thing I needed to buy was the cooler itself. Most coolers come with a standard size of about 12 inches wide, so fitting the universal unit in the "Mishimoto location" should be relatively easy. Also, I figured I would get better fitment with a 16-row cooler since it wouldn't be blocked by the crash bar.
Items bought:
1. Evil Energy 16 row oil cooler with 10AN to 6AN adapters
2. Evil Energy 6AN 45 degree hose fittings
3. 6AN nylon braided hose 3/8 inner diameter
4. Thread seal tape
5. Miscellaneous mounting hardware (metal brackets, 6mm bolt and nut)
Installation thread to follow soon!
