Levorg MY16
Hello,

have anyone ideas what this could be:

My Levorg MY16, which I've owned for almost two years and has nearly 50,000 km on the clock, has had the following problem from the beginning:

During normal driving, around 50 km/h in city traffic, for about the first 40 minutes, I hear a rapid, quiet "clicking" sound coming from the area of the dashboard on the passenger side. After about 60 minutes of driving, it gets quieter, but it persists.

This noise sounds like a voltage surge, as if a small component is experiencing excessive voltage, which is then discharged with a crackling/clicking sound. It's relatively quiet, but audible. The rhythm is irregular, but constant; the rapid "clicking" occurs about 2-4 times per second.

The noise occurs at speeds above approximately 40 km/h. It is not dependent on engine speed. It happens regardless of the road surface. The clicking frequency decreases slightly when I let off the gas and coast.

I've already checked a lot of things. It's not the bulb in the sun visor, the tweeter in the front right, along with all the speakers, has been replaced with better ones by a professional car audio company, the glove compartment has been completely emptied, and the air vents, especially on the passenger side, have been checked. The battery voltage (continuously measured with a cigarette lighter voltmeter) remains constant at 14.5V.

So far, I haven't been able to pinpoint the clicking. It seems to be coming from the center of the dashboard on the passenger side, behind or above the glove compartment.

What electronic components are located in this area? Perhaps the electronics for the passenger airbag? Or something else?

Has anyone else heard this noise in a Levorg?

Thanks for your help.

Steven
