Poor radio reception

I have a 2014 JDM Levorg and have replaced the Japanese Panasonic audio unit with a Sony XAV-AX5500 and since doing so have found the reception for the radio very poor and static is present.
The previous Panasonic unit seemed ok on the few stations I could recieve and uses the same adapter to aerial plug so I am unsure what the issue could be.
Any one else had reception issues?

Did you connect the earth & plug in the ariel antenna?

Yeah I did. Perhaps body earth isn’t as good as it could be. I’ll pull it all out again in the weekend and recheck all going to plan.

Definitely earthing related, try a better/new earthing point and see how that goes.

Side thought: I have the AX3000 in my 2014 and from memory the earth wire is separate from the loom so could be worth trying a new earth wire to eliminate a break internally as well

Is the aerial adapter supposed to be a powered one? My adapter that was connected to the Japanese unit appears to be non powered.

I found the issue was a poor connection in the wiring connector that powers the 12v for the aerial amplifier.
