G'day everyone,

Thought I’d pop in, say hello, and officially join the club!

I've just taken the plunge on a 2017 Subaru Levorg STI (JDM import). To say this is a change of pace for me is a massive understatement, this is officially my very first time owning something non-European.

My garage history up until now consists of:
  • An '03 Golf VR5
  • A boring, base-model Mk6 1.4TSI Golf
  • A JDM-import BMW F31 320i estate (a basic commuter spec with a couple of nice options thrown in).
To be fair, the BMW was actually a great drive and definitely wasn't slow, but it recently started developing some classic "BMWisms" that I just didn't want to deal with anymore. I figured it was finally time to trade the looming threat of German warning lights for some proper JDM turbo goodness.

The step up to the Levorg STI is absolute night and day. The handling is incredible, and I’m still grinning every time I boot it. I'm already obsessed, even if I keep turning on the windscreen wipers instead of the indicators out of habit, or being shouted at by all the ETC, Eyesight and Headunit.

Stoked to be here, looking forward to getting to know the community, and picking your brains for tips!

Cheers!

(Attached a pic from when it was on the car yard, its in no state for photos cause its filthy rn)

Welcome,
I've had my Sti coming up 4yrs.
Have a look at my build thread in the gallery and enjoy the terrible fuel consumption .

Others complain about the suspension, but I can't fault it.

Any modifications planned?

Cheers for the welcome, mate!
I'll definitely go have a browse through your build thread and see what you've done with yours. I'm already bracing myself for the fuel bills, but hey, smiles per gallon, right?
The suspension has definitely been interesting so far. It’s fine most of the time, but given how absolutely crap the roads are around here at the moment, I’ve already found the bottom of it a couple of times! I’ve quickly realized I just need to take things a little slower over the rough stuff.

As for modifications, I don’t have huge plans just yet while I’m still getting to know the car. First order of business is just giving it a proper birthday with a full fluid change so I know exactly where everything is at baseline and can go from there.

After that, the first real "mod" will be finding an adjuster bracket to raise the front number plate up a bit—I really don’t like how it hangs down over the bottom grill from the factory.

Maybe I might find some goodies in your build to add to the list
