Upgrading stock speakers

Hey mate

So I had a 1500RMS Pioneer AMP (come with Sub controller in the front so you don't have to use the head unit preferences to turn crank it up or down) installed under the passenger seat to run 2 x 12" Alpine Subs in the rear, you can't install an amp under the drivers seat, the seat motors take up too much room.

I had a Fusion 150RMS 4 Channel amp install in the boot under the carpet and in the wheel well, fits perfect. Had two Morel splits added to the front and 2 x component speakers fitted in the rear.

I also had all 4 doors installed with sound deafening, this is awesome for road noise to BTW. All up I have around 2400w in the car now and it's mental.

Another extra I got done while they were doing the car was a 12v plug in the boot, storage area with constant power.

If you want the specific of all the audio bits let me know champ.

Mine was done by Complete Car Sound in Brisbane. Took two full days to install, they do a fantastic job. http://completecarsound.com.au/

Thanks for the reply Arctic. Ended up with replacing front components and rear co's with Focal Flax Series, powered by a Mosconi Gladen One -8Chan. All still controlled by factory head. Everything was installed by the guys at Drivesound in Morooka. Also had a lot of sound deadning put in, mainly to reduce road noise as I've noticed this is a lot louder than previous Gen4 Liberty, even after ditching the Dunlop Sports Max in favour for some Michelin Pilot a Sports.

The guys at Drivesound said the most difference in noise is made by deadning around windows, so Arctic if you haven't done the outer door panels around windows I'd address that before the boot/tailgate. The difference in the cabin noise now is amazing, so much quieter. At the moment this set up is enough for me and doesn't really warrant a seperate sub. Having installed a slimline Sub in my Hilux and knowing the little difference it makes I would say that if a decent upgrade to your system (components, amp and rear co's) isn't producing enough bass for you then chance are you're chasing real air-moving bass and a low-profile, powered sub won't do it. I'd save my money and get one of the rear storage bins in the boot made into an enclosure for a decent 8 inch sub if you want to keep things fairly unobtrusive

Nice one mate. That will make a huge difference to the stock setup, hope you enjoying it. The deafening is the bomb, I love mine and you are correct, the reduction in road noise is awesome. I just wanted more bass and a lot more punch, hence I went for my setup.

I can confirm that the speakers are the issue. I have an Outback 3.6 2016 with the same head unit as the Levorg although it runs harman kardons all around with stock sub in boot. Compared to my 2017 Levorg it kicks it's ass.

I assumed that the setup in the Levorg would be the same as the Outback so I didn't think twice about it till I got on the freeway and went to turn it up.

Going to upgrade all the doors, whats a good speaker setup that I could just plug right in no mess no fuss no spacers required?

Cheers
Mike

I went with Sony XS-GS 1621 series and quite happy with them. You will need spacers unfortunately. Patrick from Subaruaudio would help you with the spacers. Drop him a line and say hi for me.

But you will need an amplifier to run the speakers... HU is not providing enough juice. I would recommend Pioneer GM-D9605 which is a nice 5 channel and very reasonable. If you need help with the install, feel free to contact me.

I have just upgraded the HU and I must say I am impressed with the sound quality already. I would suggest you upgrade the HU first and then if you are still not satisfied, go with the speaker upgrade. That factory installed HU is underpowering the speakers.
@ozkan bicer are you happy with your head unit? Would you recommend it?

Sorry for being off-topic. I'm looking for a good stereo and can't make my mind up which one is the best.

There are so many aftermarket stereos that it's hard to find a good one. Many of them have one digit difference in their name. Anyways I've been reading reviews on the nets and they are all hype. Most of them downplay the negatives and hype features like 7" as if it would be that important. I've found a different blog. The thing I liked about this article is that it says it how it is. No sugar coating no BS. Even so there are ten or more head units on the site. How to pick the right one?

Is the parking brake bypass a thing for all the stereos? Any tips?
